Vietnam has opportunity for data centers to thrive, foreign media says

Business Times said Vietnam’s data center market is thriving like never before, with both local and foreign companies looking to develop more DCs in the South-east Asian country as demand for data storage continues to grow.

Yahoo Finance cited the Vietnam Data Center Market Investment Report 2022-2028 that the data center market size in Vietnam is expected to increase to more than 1 billion USD in 2028 from 561 million USD of last year with an average increase of more than 10% per year.

PR News Wire page cited a survey of Akamai’s partners, customers in Vietnam, Indonesia, and India indicated greatest willingness to spend on cloud (60% and up of IT budget). Akamai is the US cloud computing services and content delivery network (CDN) provider.

Nikkei said China’s Huawei is adding supplies for data centers to its offerings in Vietnam, where storage laws are stoking demand for cloud computing. Growth will come from “booming” use of social media and other internet platforms, as well as the government’s goal of “digital transformation,” Huawei Data Center Product Manager Do Van Chung told Nikkei Asia on the sidelines of a recent industry event. “Vietnam has an opportunity to be a hub,” Chung said, “It has a good environment.”
