and US tech firms.

“Vietnam is rapidly emerging as a powerhouse in the digital economy, backed by a highly skilled engineering and technology workforce. This is evident in Apple’s expanding production in Vietnam, including products like Macbooks, iPads, and Apple Watches, which employ thousands of local workers,” Cook said.

Cook regards Vietnam as a strategic player in Apple’s global business plan, but he emphasised the necessity of Vietnam upgrading its technological standards, particularly regarding 5G.

“It is essential for Vietnam to actively refine its legal framework, with a particular focus on ensuring security, safety, and user privacy. Additionally, Vietnam, like many other countries, should carefully consider various factors in the application and development of AI,” Cook added.

Meanwhile, President Thuong commended Apple for its growing presence in Vietnam, highlighting the significant opportunities the company has created for the nation’s youth, while also calling on Apple to increase its investment further in Vietnam’s rapidly developing urban areas.

“We are keen to see Apple’s increased involvement in our vibrant regions, leveraging its expertise and innovative capabilities, particularly in the 5G domain, as it is crucial for Vietnam’s technological advancement,” said Thuong.

“The upgrade to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the US paves the way for greater investments from companies like Apple, especially in high-tech areas, which are a priority for Vietnam,” he added.
