"We are currently discussing, but nothing has been decided yet, including the timing," said Yuko Sugahara of the corporate communications office of Toshiba Corporation.

The confirmation came after foreign news agencies reported that Toshiba has chosen Indonesia as the company's regional production hub for LCD television sets and has relocated its Vietnamese factory to Indonesia.

The Daily contacted the spokesperson of Toshiba's communications office in HCMC but this person said that only people at Japan-based Toshiba Corporation have the right to talk to the press.

Toshiba Vietnam Consumer Products Co., Ltd., which is the only factory to manufacture Toshiba LCD TV sets and DVD players, started production in 1996 and its products have been sold mainly in Vietnam.

Toshiba Corporation has seen a decline in sales due to the global economic slowdown.
